Coating Repair Following Burnt Coil Incident on Merkur Offshore Wind Farm
In 2024, Ventum performed specialist coating repairs at the Merkur Offshore Wind Farm, following a burnt coil incident inside a wind turbine generator.
Challenge
We used a custom magnetic extraction tool to safely remove damaged components from confined areas, then conducted detailed surface preparation inside the generator housing.
Solution
Certified rope access technicians applied offshore-approved coatings in line with manufacturer specs. All work was reviewed by a FROSIO-certified inspector, ensuring compliance with quality and durability requirements.
Results
This project demonstrates our ability to carry out high-precision repairs in restricted offshore environments where coating integrity is critical.
