Gearbox Borescope Inspections on Vestas Wind Turbines in Southern Sweden
In summer 2024, we performed gearbox inspections across 28 Vestas wind turbines in southern Sweden as part of an end-of-warranty campaign.
Challenge
Using borescope techniques, our technicians carried out internal inspections of gearbox components, assessing:
- gear teeth for pitting, micro-pitting, scuffing, and spalling
- bearings for wear, brinelling, and flaking
- planetary gear stages for cracks and debris, debris accumulation, and abnormal wear patterns
- shafts and couplings for fatigue and corrosion
Solution
All findings were documented using high-resolution imaging and detailed reports to support the customer’s maintenance strategy and warranty negotiations.

This project reflects Ventum’s capability to deliver precise, high-value inspection services that protect turbine health and long-term performance.
